A Sloping Garden
My brief here was to create a terrace in proportion with the fine old stone country house. A flight of steps with purpose made seating on a landing, both to rest the eye and the legs, takes one to the upper garden and a view of the distant church spire. The banks to either side are clothed with plants. A metal pergola supports a vine and more informal flight of steps leads to the orchard. The following year I was asked to design an eye catching border in "hot" colours. You can see the striking metal plant supports, reminiscent of the estate fencing around the property, designed to flex in the wind.
